Congratulations to the Mile High Section and Deb and Jay Hokanson for planning a great picnic outing for our two sections. The location was the Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen, CO. This hidden gem was a working ranch and nestles in the tree-covered hills west of Denver. The Pikes Peak Section had a respectable contingent of 11 folks and we all thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the historic structure that evolved from a one-room cabin built in 1883. A catered lunch in the picnic pavilion rounded out this awesome day.
Deb & Jay Hokanson of the Mile High Section really did a nice job in finding, scheduling, and organizing this event. We had no idea the Hiwan Homestead Museum existed and were glad to have a chance to tour this piece of living history.
